Raloxifene (Evista)
SERM
Raloxifene, commercially known as Evista, is a Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator (SERM). While Nolvadex are used for both Post Cycle Therapy and gynecomastia, Raloxifene is the compound of choice when the primary objective is the targeted protection or reversal of breast tissue only.
It functions as a competitive antagonist at the estrogen receptors specifically within the breast tissue, preventing circulating estrogen from signaling for the growth of glandular tissue. Conversely, it acts as an estrogen agonist in the bone and liver, providing the benefit of increased bone mineral density and a positive impact on cholesterol profiles. For performance athletes, its most significant advantage over Nolvadex is its minimal impact on IGF-1 levels.
In practical application, Raloxifene has earned a reputation for its ability to reduce even long standing pubertal gynecomastia that has been present for years. Unlike the rapid suppression seen with aromatase inhibitors, Raloxifene treatment is a marathon, not a sprint.
To reverse an established lump, many follow a high dose protocol of 120mg daily for the first month, followed by a step down to 60mg daily for several additional months. This duration is necessary to ensure the tissue actually regresses rather than just temporarily shrinking and snapping back once the drug is discontinued. Users report that while surgery is the only 100% cure for fibrous tissue, Raloxifene can often achieve a 50% to 80% reduction in size, making lumps significantly less noticeable under a lean physique.
The psychological profile of Raloxifene is arguably its greatest selling point among steroid users. Raloxifene is virtually free of any mental side effects, and most users reporting they feel completely normal while on it.
However, Raloxifene can cause an increased risk of deep vein thrombosis and blood clots. Because anabolic steroids already increase hematocrit and red blood cell count, adding a compound that further increases clotting risk requires vigilance. Many users employ a baby aspirin protocol daily to mitigate this risk, along with staying hydrated and monitoring blood pressure.
Additionally, while it works wonders for estrogen induced gyno, it is often used as a defensive layer when running 19-nor compounds like Trenbolone or Deca, as these can cause nipple sensitivity that Raloxifene can effectively block at the receptor site. It is essentially the gold standard for anyone prone to gynecomastia who wants to maintain their muscle gains and their mental sanity simultaneously.
