S-4 (Andarine)

SARM with notable visual side effects

Andarine, or S4, is an early generation selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) that was originally researched for its ability to treat muscle wasting and benign prostatic hypertrophy. has an anabolic effect, and does not cause much water retention.

The administration of S4 is unique due to its short half life of approximately 4 to 6 hours. Because of this, users typically split their daily dosage into 2 or 3 separate administrations to maintain stable levels in the bloodstream. Common protocols range from 25 mg to 75 mg per day, with many finding the 50 mg mark to be the ideal balance between results and manageable side effects.

Unlike many other peptides and SARMs, it has a distinct characteristic where it can bind to the receptors in the eyes, which can lead to a well documented yellow tint in vision and difficulty adjusting to low light environments. These vision changes are temporary and usually reverse within a few days of stopping the compound.

Although it is considered less suppressive than many other compounds in its class, it will still cause a measurable drop in natural hormone production. To counteract this, many individuals utilize a SERM base like enclomiphene at 6.25 mg daily starting in the 3rd or 4th week, or simply use a testosterone base. This proactive approach helps prevent the lethargy and mood shifts that occur as natural levels begin to dip. Supporting the liver with 1200 mg of NAC daily is standard, as even non methylated orals can put a baseline strain on the system.
