Winstrol (Stanozolol)
Cutting and strength
Winstrol, or stanozolol, is a dihydrotestosterone derivative known for being one of the most effective finishing compounds in bodybuilding. It has an anabolic to androgenic ratio of 320 to 30, but it is rarely used for building raw mass. Instead, it is prized for creating a hard, grainy, and vascular look.
Winstrol does not aromatize into estrogen, so water retention is non existent. This makes it ideal for the final weeks of a cut where the goal is to achieve a dry, paper thin look.
Beyond the stage, winstrol is a performance enhancer for athletes who need explosive power without added weight. It is famous for increasing speed and recovery, which is why it has been a staple in track and field and MMA for decades. A unique characteristic of stanozolol is its ability to significantly lower sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG). By doing so, it increases the amount of free testosterone circulating in the body, which can make any other steroids in the cycle more effective.
Winstrol is available as both an oral tablet and an injectable suspension. Because it is 17-alpha-alkylated, the two forms are chemically identical and both are stressful to the liver. The oral version has a half life of about 8 hours, requiring multiple doses throughout the day to keep blood levels stable. Common doses for men range from 25mg to 50mg daily, though some competitors push to 100mg in the final days of prep.
Winstrol is notorious for drying out joints, leading to a creaky or painful sensation that makes heavy lifting difficult. It is also one of the harshest compounds on cholesterol, frequently crashing HDL to single digits and spiking LDL. As a DHT derivative, it is highly aggressive toward the hairline, and WILL cause rapid shedding in those prone male pattern baldness. Liver toxicity is a major concern, and users are generally advised to limit cycles to 6 weeks or less while using protective supplements like NAC or TUDCA.
